The teenager Chaplin won a place in the company of FredKarno acrobat, presented by his brother Sidney. Karno, who was a hit with mime shows, once had five companies, performing inall at once. Chaplin quickly overcame the artist Harry Weldon, with whom he shared a number and, in 1909, had its first season in Paris.
